AR Rahman, Javed Akhtar to headline Shaam-e-Rekhta Dubai 2026
Two distinct live shows scheduled for December 12 and 13
DUBAI is set for two major evenings of music, poetry and Urdu culture as India’s music maestro AR Rahman and renowned Indian poet and lyricist Javed Akhtar headline the upcoming Shaam-e-Rekhta Dubai on December 12 and 13, 2026.
Rekhta Foundation has announced that tickets are now officially live for the two-day programme at Media City Amphitheatre. The event will feature two distinct live shows, with each evening offering a different musical and literary experience.
The weekend will begin on Saturday, December 12, with Noor-e-Ishq, a Sufi music-focused live show led by acclaimed composer and musician AR Rahman.
The performance is scheduled to run from 6pm to 9pm GST, with the programme promising a large-scale live presentation centred on Sufi music.
The opening night will set the tone for the two-day celebration, bringing Rahman's musical repertoire to the Rekhta stage in Dubai.
The programme will continue on Sunday, December 13, with Sada Bahaar Geetkaar, a live tribute to the art of songwriting featuring celebrated lyricist Javed Akhtar.
Akhtar will be joined by Meiyang Chang and Jhanvi Shrimankar for the second evening, which is also scheduled from 6pm to 9pm GST.
The show will focus on the enduring appeal of songwriting and the contribution of lyrics to Indian music and popular culture, adding a literary dimension to the weekend's programme.
